Frequently Asked Questions

How does a mobile food distribution work?

Guests remain in their vehicles and Food Bank staff or volunteers load food into trunks and truck beds. Walk-up service is also available. If walking-up, we recommend bringing a cart or bag to help carry the food. The low-contact, no-contact drive-thru style provides maximum safety for individuals receiving food, as well as for staff and volunteers conducting the distribution.

What do I need to bring?

You do not need to bring any documentation with you. We will never ask for an ID, pay stub, social security card or any other document. We do ask that you please clear space in your trunk or truck bed ahead of time to make room for the food.

Will I need to complete any paperwork?

Yes. Some food supplied by the Food Bank of Lincoln comes from the federal government through a program called The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). This program is part of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Neighbors receiving USDA food are asked to complete a TEFAP form.

Learn more about the form and see an example, here: TEFAP FAQ.

I am picking up food for someone else (or want someone else to pick up food for me). What do I do?

Anyone who cannot complete the TEFAP form in-person will need to complete a proxy form in advance. Only one proxy form per vehicle is allowed. Text messages and notes are not accepted.

Note: A person with a proxy form can pick up for one other household, but they must go back to the end of the line to pick up for that person.
