Food Fight!

Food Fight!, formerly known as the Student Hunger Drive, this friendly competition invites area schools to band together in the fight against hunger. By collecting food and raising funds, students will help alleviate hunger in Southeast Nebraska, where an estimated 1 in 7 neighbors—and 1 in 5 children—are food insecure. All elementary, middle and high schools located in Southeast Nebraska are invited to participate! Since 2013, Food Fight! has helped make more than 318,000 meals possible for neighbors facing hunger in Southeast Nebraska.

While the concept of Food Fight! remains the same, this year’s event has been modified to encourage year-round collaborative participation. Unlike previous years where schools competed against one another, this 2024-25 Food Fight! will be a collective student effort, with all schools working together to compete against hunger. We’ve set an ambitious goal and are challenging Southeast Nebraska’s students to help raise 50,000 meals! We encourage students to lead this initiative. This volunteer effort provides valuable problem-solving practice, business savvy, and communication and leadership skills. Please make sure to get permission from your school prior to starting the drive.

There’s no registration for Food Fight! Any donation of food and funds made to the Food Bank of Lincoln between Sept. 16 and April 16 will count toward your school’s total.
